Super Simple Cider
With my second batch of cider, the first one being several years ago, I wanted something easy to make for my friends and family at Thanksgiving this year. A long drive to my local’ish farmers market, I picked up 2 gallons of unpasteurized sweet cider and headed home to figure out what I needed to do. After a couple of tweets, a few texts, and my friend google, here is my super simple cider recipe.
- 2 gallons Sweet cider
- 1lb of light brown sugar
- Couple drops of Pectic Enzyme
- Lalvin 71b yeast
I mixed this together in my fermentor set the temp to 70 deg and let it go for about 2 weeks. After 2 weeks the final gravity was 0.994.
I was quite happy with the final product, it had a very dry apple flavor and it also retained a fairly sweet aroma.
