Quotations Restaurant & Bar
On a trip down to Philly to visit my brother-in-law, he brought us to a place called Quotations Restaurant & Bar in Media, PA. When we walked into the restaurant around 7 on a Friday night, it was pretty crowed around the bar, but we were able to get a table for dinner and waiter services without a wait.
As with a good beer bar and restaurant we were given two menus, one for the food and one for the beer. While the beer menu was difficult to read, it was loaded with a plethora of unique beers. 14 beers on tap ranging from Barley Wine to IPA to Lambic to Stout, there was also another 16 bottled beers on the menu.
My first choice was a bottle of Great Divide Titan IPA while my brother-in-law had pint of the Manneken Pis (a Belgian white). I was extremely happy with the Titan IPA, great aroma and flavor, as was my brother-in-law with his Mannekan.
Next I decided to try the Pennichuck Big Chief Imperial IPA, had good luck with the first IPA, so I decided to push my luck with the Imperial. It was definitely a really big beer, but really lacked in the aroma department.
With my dinner, a very good burger by the way, I had a beer that I had never heard of t’Smisje Calva Reserva, a Belgian Quadrupel. This was a very strong sweet with strong cherry and fig flavors. The 12% alcohol in this beer was also clearly present.
Overall I liked this bar and would go back, clean and well maintained. I was told the beer is rotated often with new beers on a regular basis. I think the wait staff could have been more knowledge. As a side note the cheese fries are killer!
