Young’s Double Chocolate Stout
Young’s Double Chocolate Stout has got to be one of the more interesting beers I’ve had in recent memory. I drank this beer warm (even though the bottle said to drink it slightly chilled), it was like a candy version of beer.
This beer poured with a nice thick amber head, great retention, and laced nicely as I drank it. The aroma was something spectacular, a very strong malty/sweet/chocolate aroma.
Now for the taste, super smooth with almost no taste of hops, but had a nice bitter sweet finish to let you know the hops are there. As the name says, the bittersweet chocolate was definitely the dominate flavor.
Over all a very good beer that is super sweet but not obnoxiously so. I bet this would taste real good with a rich desert, like cheese cake. I also use this beer to make my Chocolate Stout Chili.
Tasting method: Mug from 16oz Bottle
My Score: 8.9
