Sam Calagione Talks About Life & Limb and Future Collaborations
It’s not every day you get to attend the release dinner for an amazing collaborative beer. When I heard about the Life & Limb collaboration beer between Dogfish Head and Sierra Nevada and their east coast release dinner was going to be 20 minutes away, I had to get there. But what could make an evening of amazing beer, great food, and new friends better? A one on one interview with the man who has turned extreme beer into a household name, Sam Calagione.
Like I already said, great interview-in fact, it’ perhaps the best one with Calagione I’ve seen, and I’ve watched quite a few. It’s interesting to see the relaxed and friendly side of Sam Calagione, as opposed to the usual cut and dry interviews.
Wow, thanks Nate. I felt this was a very comfortable interview, we had just finished an amazing meal at Bobby Flay’s Bar Americain paired with some delicious beers, which I’m sure didn’t hurt 🙂
Great job and as always Sam comes across as an absolutely amazing person.
I was impressed, he believes in what he says. Both Sam and Ken Grossman(Sierra Nevada) took the time to come around and talk to everyone individually at the Dinner answered questions, posed for pictures, and signed books. It was really cool.
Great job, Peter. I learned a lot about Sam and DFH from your interview. And the audio is great for such a busy public location. I can’t wait for the 2010 DFH, Victory and Stone collaboration; that’s an all-star lineup IMO.
The whole interview seems very well lubricated, which, as you say, probably didn’t hurt. Great work.
Thanks Jim! I’m trying to get more info on the DFH, Stone, Victory collaboration. Sam only had a couple minutes to sit with me, so I didn’t get a chance to follow that up with a bunch of questions.
Please see if you can find a bottle of these brews. I’m in Southern Cali and don’t think I’ll see them.
I may actually be able to get some on Friday…so, I’ll see.
let me know and and If i run into a stash I’ll send ya one.
Awesome job Peter. I had the pleasure of meeting Sam a couple years ago and he’s a great & down to earth guy.
Thanks Billy. I really enjoyed interviewing him, hopefully I have the opportunity to do it again (with better lighting)!
Great Interview!
Thanks Mike. Ya woulda loved it. Great food and your favorite beer!
I’m going to supposedly be able to get some on Friday…we’ll see
that’s great for you… I called the distributor today and couldn’t get any answers about when it was coming to Jersey. I wasn’t convinced they knew anything about it…
Enjoyed your interview very much. DogfishHead is our favorite brewery right now. Every been they come out with is very creative. I may not like every single everyone they make, but I appreciate the though that goes into each one.
Thanks John. Just heard that their World Wide Stout and olde School barleywine just made it to the distributor in NJ!
All I can say is Niiiiiice! Keep it up!
Thanks Scott. Have another huge interview coming up in Dec. But, I’ll keep you guessing.
