Japan‘s Hitachino Nest Espresso Stout brewed by Kiuchi Brewery is one unique beer. This ink black stout pours very nicely with a think creamy head characteristic of most stouts. I was overwhelmed by the sweet chocolate coffee aroma, it was pretty intense.
The first sip is usually pretty telling of a beer, this espresso stout was extremely bitter with a strong coffee flavor, very mild hop presence.BUT, the rest of the glass had sweet chocolate and coffee flavor, very distinct flavors that stayed on your palette long after swallowing.
Overall a good beer, don’t drink it too cold, as the beer warmed up the flavors really opened up. With such strong robust flavors I could only drink 1.
