Interview with Brooklyn Brewery’s Brewmaster, Garrett Oliver
Last week I had the opportunity to interview Garrett Oliver, Brewmaster of Brooklyn Brewery. For those of you who don’t know or haven’t had the pleasure to hear him talk, he is very charismatic with a wealth of beer and culinary knowledge. In this interview we discuss collaborations, future plans, and sample three beers, bottle re-femented Brooklyner Weisse, Wild 1, and Black Ops.
I found this to be a great interview, so we are bringing it to you unedited and uncut. Cheers!
Great interview. I wish I had Black Ops with me while watching
Keep an eye out for it is should be in the stores in the next couple of days to a week in NJ
Peter, you are a beer media stud! I’m also looking forward to finding some Black Ops. It really isn’t easy to find! Nice job!
We should be getting it in NJ over the next week. call your local stores!
Finally got the time to listen to this and a really good job Pete. He is such a smart guy and his love for food and matching it up with beer makes him even more interesting to me since that is something I like to do.
Thanks Mike. pairing beer and food well requires a great deal of knowledge on both sides. I think it is the natural evolution in beer. From styles to specific beers then matching it up with food. Both fun and challenging.
Very cool! I’m reading The BrewMaster’s Table right now. I want to just hang out with this guy and eat some food. Nicely done.
Thanks Michael! You’re right about that. extremely fascinating. I can’t wait to go to one of his beer dinners, but they are usually buco dollars!
Awesome interview!
Do you know what glassware was used? It looks like the Spiegelau Stemmed Pilsner tulips?
Vasu, Thanks! It was a really fun interview to do. The glassware was not the Spiegelau Stemmed Pilsner tulips, these are a bit wider on the bottom, making for a bigger bowl.
ah ha! Any idea what kind they were? I really liked the shape of em
no, I’ve been looking for this style of glass for a long time. I got one at a tasting I was at a couple yrs ago. they are great glasses
