Rogue Imperial India Pale Ale
OK, so I love these bottles that Rogue has put their line of Imperial Beers in the ceramic bottles. Very unique, cool, and for you homebrewers, it has a flip top lid so you can reuse. (guess it makes it environmentally friendly…) As you can see from the picture it is a cool gun metal color.
Pour:
A nice even pour does this beer well; give it a bit of distance on the end to open up the head and aroma.
Appearance:
Beer had very nice copper / blond color with a good amber head.
Aroma:
Very interesting from an Imperial India Pale Ale (IIPA), got the oomph of the hops, but also had a sweet bready aroma.
Taste:
A medium bodied, well balanced hop head beer. Had a nice sweet flavor of citrus and grapefruit and floral hops.
Drinkability:
With 74 IBU and 9.5% ABV, a very nice beer that got better as I drank. The last glass from the 750ml was better then the first, the orange and citrus flavors really blended nicely with the hops.
Tasting method: Tulip Glass with 750ml
Rating: 9.2
This one’s been on my short list to try too….I haven’t found a Roque that I didn’t like yet. Is that one of those Samuel Adams glasses? Do you notice any difference? I have a set and I’ve come to prefer them over the old standard “pint” style. Maybe I just drank the coolaid, but I think they are better.;)
Pete
yes it was a Sam Adams glass. They sent it to me 2 years ago after they lost my scores from the longshot competition. I took a knife and scrapped off all the paint, cause i really like the glass, but didn’t want the logo in my pictures.
