Pints for Prostates / Jolly Pumpkin Beire de Goord
I’ve been looking forward to this beer since I saw a press release on BeerNews.org. Lucky for me I got two bottles of it. One I’m drinking tonight and the other I’ll be sharing with my fellow beer geeks at #BrewYork on Friday. The Jolly Pumpkin Biere de Goord is a cooperative beer between Jolly Pumpkin, Pints for Prostates, and Rare Beer Club. The beer that was created sounds absolutely intriguing, a saison brewed with kale, pumpkin seeds, pumpkin and green tea, was made by Jolly Pumpkin to help raise awareness about prostate cancer and generate funds for the Pints for Prostates campaign.
I gotta say, I was drawn in right as I opened the bottle, the sweet smell of funk just oozed out. I’m a sucker for a funky saison and this doesn’t disappoint! This beer has a nice refreshing dryness with a good bit of sweet tartness. Yes, I said sweet tartness. At first at has this nice sweetness that almost immediately turns to a nice quenching tartness. I’m not sure how the Kale, Pumpkin, tea, and peppercorn fit into this beer. Well actually the peppercorn was there ever so slightly giving the beer a slight zip as it warmed.
Overall this beer was right up my alley! The #BrewYork crew is gonna love this one, unless I conveniently forget it and keep it for myself! 🙂
I think they would have your head if you didn’t deliver on this one Peter lol.
Are you in the rare beer club? I just joined and did it in time enough to get the September beers so I’m eagerly awaiting the Biere de Goord.
Yeah Billy, I’m in the club. about 5 months now. Over all, I’m very happy with it. The Panil that came with the JP is awesome!
